A WEST Devon charity is urgently looking for volunteers to assist on children?s respite breaks. Carrie Gynn, the holiday co-ordinator at CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids), which has bases at Brentor and near Milton Abbot, said the charity was desperately short of volunteers at present, and without them, staff would not be able to run the camps. The breaks are provided for disadvantaged children aged eight to 15, who would not otherwise have a holiday. Volunteers are needed to join in, have fun, support and encourage the children. All volunteers are subject to a Criminal Records Bureau check and two references ? people already with CRB clearance would be particularly welcome.
