WITH three weeks to go, the preparations for a charity golf day are well under way.
More than 30 teams have entered and there is plenty of room for more to take part in the charity event to raise money for Clic Sargent.
It has been organised by an Okehampton family whose daughter suffers from leukaemia.
In January 2009, Bea Holman-Brooks, aged 12, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. She spent three weeks in Bristol Children's Hospital and was then transferred to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, where she has continued her treatment.
Everyone is welcome to come along to the event, which will include a grand prize draw with more than 40 donated prizes up for grabs.
Prizes range from a week's use of a villa in Spain to a LandRover off-roading voucher, hampers, an ipod and much more.
Bea's mother, Helen Holman, said: 'Our goal is to sell over 3,000 tickets. We are also holding a silent auction on the day and Manchester United Football Club have kindly donated a signed football, which will come in a presentation display case and a certificate of authenticity.
'We would like to thank family, friends and the local community for their kind support in helping us to raise funds for this fantastic charity — every penny from the draw will go to Clic Sargent.'
To place a bid for the football, text or email your name, phone number and bid to Helen on 07973 514445, [email protected]">[email protected]
Tickets can be purchased from Quinns Hairdressers, Donald's Menswear and InkPrint.
The charity golf day is on Friday, July 2 at Okehampton Golf Club from 9.30am.
