MEMBERS of Yelverton and Princetown Rotary Clubs, helped by representatives from the primary school and pre-school, have been planting purple crocus bulbs in Princetown.

The bulbs will bring a splash of spring colour and the reminder of new life

Princetown's contribution was organised by Pam Law with the help of half a dozen volunteers.

Crocuses were also planted on Yelverton roundabout as part of the same initiative.

Rotary as an international charity was challenged by billionaire Bill Gates to match his $200-million contribution towards the eradication of polio worldwide, and so far Rotary is well over halfway there. Children in countries such as India and Afghanistan have their fingers dipped in purple ink when they receive an innoculation — hence the link between new life and purple.
