MARTIAL artists from the South West were given the opportunity to train with various instructors in a multi-style martial art charity event organised by Robert Curtis, instructor of the Goju Ryu Jujitsu club in Launceston.

Umberto Bergonzini, instructor of the Ju Jitsu club in Tavistock, was one of the instructors who received an invitation to teach at this charity course. The other instructors were Tony Curtis of the Gojuki-Jitsu Jujitsu, Greg Regan of the Ryu Jujutsu Association and Trevor Wickett of the Jikishin Jujitsu Association.

Umberto, said he was honoured by the invitation and thanked Robert Curtis and Tina Hocking for organising the event.

Robert, the course organiser, added: 'This was the first charity event that Jujitsu Launceston had arranged. St Lukes Hospice was a very good choice as they had looked after my father when he fell ill in 2008 and I wanted to try and give something back.

'I was very nervous about attendance but the whole day was an overwhelming success and a good time was had by all. Everyone left with a new perspective on martial arts as a whole.  My many thanks to the sensei and the students involved, without them this wouldn't have been possible. Thanks to everyone's efforts, we raised £320 for St Lukes hospice in Plymouth.'
