MEMBERS of Tavistock and District Chamber of Commerce will be asked to give their view for or against the proposal for a Tesco store at Plymouth Road at an extraordinary general meeting on Monday (July 22).
It will be held at the Bedford Hotel at 6pm and a vote will be taken to formulate the chamber's response to the application for the former Focus DIY building.
The chamber has recently expressed a view in the press of being strongly against the development but some businesses in the Plymouth Road area claim it is a view that is not reflective of all its 80 members.
Peter Harding, of Fairway Furniture, called for the EGM to clarify the chamber's view and after sending an email to all members found support for such a meeting.
Only paid up members of the chamber are eligible to vote, there is one vote per business or organisation and anyone unable to attend can make a postal vote.
