A BOOKLET and DVD, entitled 'Challenging the Cuts', have been launched demonstrating a way forward for some post offices and shops in Devon, following the recent closure of many post offices in the county.
Cllr Alison Clish-Green represented West Devon Borough Council on the Devon-wide post office task force and contributed to both the booklet and the DVD.
She also met with a select committee of MPs who came to Devon recently.
She said: 'The Task Force comprised representatives from all the district councils from Devon, along with Torbay, Devon County Council, the Dartmoor National Park, Community Council of Devon, Devon Rural Network and Devon Renaissance.
'The booklet and DVD summarise the work undertaken by the task force, and explains the processes and actions taken in trying to save some post offices.'
Cllr Clish Green said it highlighted the impact on the community caused by the closure of the local post office and made recommendations at local, regional and national levels.
Cllr Clish-Green said: 'We have all worked extremely hard to try and save some of our post offices from closing.
'I hope Government will heed our recommendations and learn from this deeply flawed process which was extremely unpopular.'
