Chagford 4

Riviera Spurs 0

FACING a weakened Spurs team, Chagford took full advantage to register a valuable three points into their league account.

Three first half goals, from Botham, Emanuel and Woof set the hosts well on their way. Botham rounded things off, in the the second half, for a personal brace and it was game over. It could have been worse for the visitors but Chagford faced some pretty resolute defending from a young Spurs side and also the home team failed to take more of their chances.

l Chagford FC first travel to Kingskerswell and Chelston this week and are sure to face a tougher test.

Chagford Reserves 4

Chagford Reserves continued their fine vein of form and duly dispatched one of the division's promotion favourites. Will Cork had a rare away-day out of goal and made the most of it with a fine finish.

Lacking their prolific scorer Jon Scarry, who was on first team duty, the visitors may have wondered where the goals might come from. However, Rob Ballard celebrated his return from suspension by notching a hat-trick. The young Welshman gave a talented display to prove a thorn in Dittisham's defence.

With table-toppers South Brent losing, this win took Chagford to within a point of their rivals and extended the gap on the chasing pack.

l This week the Reserves entertain Kingsbridge and Kellaton with an eye on three more points.

l On behalf of the club John Pearce wished Chagford FC's sponsors, supporters and friends the very best of Christmas and a prosperous 2009.
