THE ORGANISERS of Chagford Show say the event will be going ahead on Thursday, August 16, despite the current restrictions on the movement of livestock imposed following the recent outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Surrey. The 106th show will be held at Dogmarsh Bridge Fields, Mill End, Chagford. Show organiser Sally Hutchings said: ?At the moment we?re saying that the show will go ahead, just without the sheep and cattle classes.? All of the show?s equestrian classes, dog events, and pet competitions are set to take place as normal. Show-goers are being advised, however, to keep checking the show?s website at http://www.chagfordshow.com">www.chagfordshow.com. Sally Hutchings said: ?If anything drastic happens to make us revise our plans, we?ll post the news on the website and announce it on Radio Devon immediately.? See report - page 9.
