South Devon Premier Chagford 1 Bovey Tracey 5 Chagford looked as though they had a hang-over from their Herald Cup semi-final of last week. Leaders Bovey Tracey played simple tactics in making a couple of short passes and then sending the ball forward. On more than one occasion Chagford were caught out by the tactic but had Williams and Scarry to thank at times. As it was, Bovey were to score three in the first half in setting an uncatchable lead. Dan Johnston for Chagford clattered his opponent to gift Bovey an 11th minute penalty. Simon Revell converted comfortably and, to add to the hosts' woes Johnston hobbled off to be replaced by Hutchison. Revell doubled his tally within ten minutes and Chagford looked down and out when Mark Sneap scored a third soon after. But Christian Crowther-Smith curled in a sweet reply just before the break, giving Chagford hope of a comeback. The second half was a little more finely balanced though neither side could make the most of what chances they had. Davis and Whatley had the home team's best opportunities while Chris Ralph forced his own 'keeper into a superb reflex save, from a wicked deflection. Fifteen minutes from the end, Bovey were given a puzzling penalty award and Revell duly notched his hat-trick. Five minutes later, Lee Pascoe sealed a fine Bovey win that keeps them at the top of the table. l This week, Chagford travel to Kingsteignton with the need to get back to their early season form.
