ONE of the region's most accomplished painters has joined the resident artists at Duchy Square Centre for Creativity in Princetown — as a print maker.

Tavistock's Heidi Koenig, whose prints and paintings are inspired by Devon's amazing countryside and beaches, is keen to develop her printing skills at the centre, where she has become  the latest creative practitioner to take low cost workspace at the centre.

Heidi is no stranger to Duchy Square as her vibrant contemporary abstract prints and paintings were on display in the centre's main gallery in September last year, when she received widespread acclaim for the works. Now she is looking forward to re-acquainting herself with Duchy Square's modern gallery space and studios — as well as the other resident artists and creative practitioners based at the centre.

Heidi will be working on a variety of print making projects of her own, as well as using the Duchy Square workspace to teach mono printing — and other print disciplines in a series of workshops.

'I thoroughly enjoyed my exhibition at Duchy Square last year and I was lucky enough to have very positive feedback for my work, which is always wonderful for an artist,' said Heidi.

'Taking workspace at the centre will enable me to reach a wider audience and give me a greater capacity to teach on a small scale. I am really looking forward to getting new creative inspiration from the stunning moorland that surrounds Duchy Square.'

Born in Germany in 1964, Heidi attained a first class honours degree in Fine Art Printmaking at Brighton University, before going on to study for a Postgraduate Diploma of Fine Art Printmaking at Slade School of Fine Art.

She has staged a number of solo exhibitions over the last decade, including the CCA Galleries in London, Oxford's Inspires Gallery and at a number of venues in the Westcountry –the Viewpoint Gallery at Plymouth College of Art and Brownston Gallery in Modbury in the South Hams.
