WREN Music kicked off a year of celebrations for its 30th anniversary, in the wonderful setting of Exeter Cathedral last Saturday.
A capacity audience enjoyed an afternoon of folk songs and music from more than two hundred singers and instrumentalists from Wren Music's various community ensembles from across Devon.
There were performances by the five Voices In Common Folk Choirs, the three Rough Music Folk Orchestras, the Mandolin Orchestra of Devon, and the youth vocal ensemble Roots A Capella.
The concert was made possible by the kind assistance of Exeter Cathedral, and was the first of many events planned for the year in a variety of locations across Devon.
Wren Music delivers folks and roots music programmes to people of all ages in community, educational, arts and care environments. It works with more than 30,000 people a year, of which over 50% are children and young people, bringing them together to make music supported by inspirational, highly skilled professional musicians in the English folk tradition with a passion for learning and sharing their skills.
New choir and orchestra members are always welcome.
