POPULAR touring theatre company Common Players will be coming to Lifton this autumn with their exciting production, ?Cider with Roadies?. The players will be at the school on Thursday October 18 from noon onwards as part of the school?s week-long festival and celebration of apples, to present ?Pomona?, a beautiful mobile apple press, created by Devon sculptor Jon Rodney-Jones. ?Cider with Roadies? will involve identifying local apples and pressing them ? using ?Pomona? ? into juice. Everyone is welcome to bring along their apples to be pressed and a small donation only is requested for this service. Pressing will be open to the public from 3pm. As the press is cleaned up, the school playground will be transformed into the setting for the performance of ?The Big Squeeze?. This is an energetic and bold story about the apple and its iconic status in our lives. Live music, puppetry, audience participation and, of course, apple juice tasting will all feature in this 45-minute performance, suitable for all the family. Tickets are available in advance or on the day at £2 for adults and £1 for children. The performance will start at 5.30pm. Telephone 01566 784218 for further details.
