TAVISTOCK Stroke Club celebrated its 50th anniversary last Thursday (February 6) with past and present members and volunteers.

Organisers of the club welcomed more than 60 people to the celebration with cake and a buffet lunch.

Chris Farrance, co-ordinator for the club, expressed thanks to everyone who attended the party — and to all the volunteers, members and relatives who have been involved with the club over its 50 year history.

The social group is held on the first and third Thursday of each month, from 10am to noon, at Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS) Anchorage Centre, next to the town’s bus station, for people of any age who have had a stroke.

The meetings always begin with tea, coffee and home-made cake, followed by various activities which are are run by a team of volunteers.
