Dartmoor National Park Authority has planned an action packed ?hands-on? celebration of Dartmoor?s cultural heritage during the May half-term at Princetown?s Visitor Centre. Amateur archaeologists have the chance to seek expert advice from a Devon ?Finds? Officer attending both days to help identify curious items found by walkers and gardeners in the local area. Walkers will be taken by a vintage bus to the trail of Sherlock Holmes in The Hound of the Baskervilles to Grimpen Mire and have the opportunity to visit the French and American prisoner of war graves of Dartmoor Prison. Stalls, face painting, story tellers, on site excavations and a treasure hunt have also been arranged to entertain and educate children who attend the ?Focus on Heritage? celebrations on May 30 and 31.
