CALLINGTON Arts Venue (CAVe) is moving forward into 2010 with a committee and a constitution and a whole new programme of entertainment.
CAVe was instigated by Callington Portreeve Rick Lumley earlier this year to bring a wide variety of art and music to the town and utilise the town hall venue. Theatre, film and live music events held so far have been very successful and last Monday a meeting was held to recruit volunteers and find out what people wanted for the future. Mr Lumley said the good thing was that four out of five people who were taking roles on the committee were new blood and the meeting produced lots of new ideas.
'We have put together a programme until the end of March which gives the committee three months to really get going,' he said. 'Everybody is really pleased with what we have done so far, there is lots of ideas and some suggestions that we provide some entertainment for the younger age groups.'
Tickets have gone on sale for Miracle Theatre's 'The Revenge of Rumplestiltskin' on January 15, 16 and 17 at Callington Town Hall which has been adapted into a community play featuring local actors, singers and dancers. Tickets are priced at £9 for adults, £8 concessions and £6 for under 16s with a family ticket costing £25. Tickets are available at the town hall or from the Kivells' office in Callington.
