YEAR 1 pupils at Okehampton Primary have been learning about local history with a visit to Okehampton Castle. The children explored the ruins and its features, and heard about the people who used to live during the the period the castle was built and used, including the powerful Courtney family. They enjoyed learning about the how the natural features of the land surrounding the castle aided its defence mechanisms against the enemy. Following their visit, children created an exhibition of their own castle designs, sketches, and artefacts.
