LAST week, pupils at North Tawton Community Primary School donated money to buy a range of 'virtual products' from bars of soap to watering cans, to change children's lives. They joined thousands of schools across the country by taking part in UNICEF's Day for Change to raise funds for water and sanitation programmes in The Gambia, West Africa. The money they raised will help more children have access to safe water and good sanitation. The school raised a fantastic £196, which will go towards UNICEF water and sanitation programmes in The Gambia. With the support of schools like North Tawton, UNICEF will be able to ensure pupils in Africa will have access to safe water and good sanitation facilities. Headteacher Nick D'Agorne said: 'I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the support given by the parents and members of the community. 'The children felt considerable empathy with those in The Gambia, who cannot afford a basic standard of living, which we take for granted. This week has really left a memorable impression on our children's lives.'
