A SPRING bridal fair featuring everything for the big day, from dresses to car hire, has raised a magnificent £752 for a Milton Abbot-based children's charity.
CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids) hosted the event in Launceston Town Hall, where businesses offering wedding services in the area came together to give couples advice and inspiration about their big day.
Tracy Izod, organiser and CHICKS fundraiser, said: 'It was a great day and raised much needed funds for under-privileged children.
'£752 will pay for three children to enjoy a fun-packed, one week holiday at Woodside Retreat.'
Tracy thanked everyone who had worked to make the day such a success, and those who had donated funds to such a worthy cause.
The bridal fair was not the only fundraising event held for CHICKS recently.
Plymouth Area Police Choir gave a concert in aid of the charity earlier last month, which raised enough money for two children to enjoy a much needed holiday at the Retreat.
CHICKS general manager Andy Lyle said: 'The evening was a huge success and Plymouth Police Choir gave a wonderful performance.
'Thanks to everyone who gave up their time to help, including Morris Brown, John Weymouth and the ladies who provided the choir with much needed tea and coffee!'
CHICKS provides free breaks for children from all parts of the UK — and to local under-privileged children too.
The charity receives no government funding but relies solely on fundraising to survive.
