GET Changed Theatre Company, which works with adults with learning disabilities, has been awarded a grand donation from the EX20 Lottery.

Mrs Susan Enderson recently presented a cheque for £1,000 to the group on behalf of the lottery.

Get Changed relies solely on fund-raising to keep it going: 'Without the support from organisations like EX20 Lottery we would no longer be able to continue this valuable service for learning disabled people, so the whole company are delighted with the news,' said project co-ordinator Vicky Hooper.

Get Changed is currently working on a project which involves going into schools and colleges educating young people on the issues faced by people with a disability, including bullying.

'This is extremely important work. We want to help to dissolve the boundaries and prejudices that young people have against disabled people,' said Vicky. 'By tackling the subject of bullying, which affects both disabled and young people, we hope that the young people will gain a better understanding of those with disability and realise that they share common ground,' she added.

Get Changed's artistic director Jane Foxwell said: 'The whole company has had a hand in creating the show. It is hard-hitting and relevant to all of us, not just the group.'

Get Changed has also recently received a donation of £200 from the Okehampton Lions Club and wishes to thank both organisations for their support.
