Devon & Exeter Intermediate 1

Okehampton Argyle 2nds 5

Feniton 2nds 1

OKEHAMPTON'S biggest win and best performance of the season so far. From the first whistle Okehampton closed down quickly and Feniton found themselves under continual pressure against fine passing football.

With Okehampton looking sharp, Guy Carver split the visitors' defence and Tim Shaw raced through, cleverly side-footing past the stranded keeper for the first goal.

Minutes later, good work from Martyn Carver and Roger Voaden saw the latter's cross neatly dispatched by Jason Sandford with Okehampton looking dominant.

Their third came within minutes with Shaw's persistence paying off - he shook off his two markers and lobbed the keeper on the edge of the box.

Feniton looked shell-shocked and just before the half-time whistle strong left wing play from Daniel Johnston saw his cross neatly headed home at the near post by Shaw to compete a fine first half hat-trick.

Feniton came out for the second half and defended doggedly. On a rare attack they scored with a peach of a goal from Mark Sheppard, but it was Okehampton who had the final say when Guy Carver fired home in the box to cap a fine performance.

James Williams and Chris Wills were both solid at the back and Steve Ausden, Roger Voaden and Nick Drew controlled and gave experience to this young side.

This Saturday home to Thorverton 2nds, 3pm kick-off, main pitch.
