TWO cars were set alight on Roborough Down last Saturday night, causing problems for the attending fire crew.

The two cars were parked side-by-side near Clearbrook. Yelverton fire chief John German said initially there was difficulty finding the correct track to reach them, although they could be seen from the road. The cars were completely destroyed.

A police spokesman said one of the cars, a Citroen BX, had been stolen, but the other vehicle, a Fiat Uno, had been abandoned and had been there for several weeks. The emergency services were originally alerted by a call from a local resident who heard an explosion at around 11.45pm.
