SINCE 1978, the Lions have been organising carnival and we have been very lucky with the weather, and this year was no exception.
Carnival day was wonderful and the people of Tavistock came out in their thousands to enjoy the spectacle.
The quality of the floats was very high and the Lions' street collection raised £2,500 the highest for ten years.
The Lions Club would like to thank everybody who took part in this year's carnival, the spectators who dropped their small change into our buckets, the organisations who sponsored events, the town council and borough council for their support.
The positive feedback we have had regarding carnival week has been tremendous and already we have organisations wanting to be involved in next year's carnival, which is 2001 Space Odyssey 'Out of this world'.
