ORGANISERS behind one of Devon's best carnivals are on the lookout for more volunteers to help run the event.

The Hatherleigh Carnival committee had just enough people to hold its general meeting on March 18, but the team is appealing for more volunteers to join their friendly committee group to help organise the carnival.

Last year's carnival saw a record number of entries, big crowds, and the beloved annual tar barrel run. This year marks 110 years since the very first Hatherleigh Carnival.

The committee's next meeting takes place at the Bridge Inn on Wednesday, April 10 at 7.30pm. The carnival itself takes place on Saturday, November 9.
