Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident where a car bumped into a 5-year-old boy.

The incident happened outside the Spar Shop and Post Office near Bedford Bridge, Tavistock.

The car, thought to be a silver Vauxhall Astra or '3' series BMW, possibly with a registration beginning with a 'V', was coming out of the car park at the rear of the Post Office when it collided with the boy, who was running across the exit.

The driver was seen to look at the boy — who was pushed away by the car but not actually knocked over — then drove off without stopping, despite at least one witness trying to wave him down.

A witness described the driver as an elderly man with grey hair. Anyone who thinks they know him is asked to contact PC McCoryn-Green at Tavistock Police Station.
