POLICE in Tavistock are appealing for information after an accident in which a motocyclist was injured.

The incident occurred a few minutes before 5pm on Sunday, November 7, at the junction of Chapel Street with Ford Street.

Sgt Dave Anning said: 'A dark coloured hatchback, possibly a VW Golf or Polo, was emerging from Chapel Street as other traffic was passing along Ford Street towards the Spar shop.

'One motorcycle went past the junction and the hatchback then pulled out in front of another. All vehicles had their lights on as it was getting dark.

'The second motorcycle, which was following the first, had to brake very hard and drop the motorcycle to avoid colliding with the hatchback.

'Another driver repeatedly flashed the driver of the hatchback, but it did not stop and crossed the roundabout, continuing towards Callington.'

Sgt Anning said it was not clear whether the driver of the hatchback knew they had caused an accident.

PC Kevin Reed, the investigating officer, is appealing to the driver of the hatchback get in touch with him.

The motorcyclist suffered leg and hand injuries and was taken to the A&E Department at Derriford Hospital.

PC Reed said he would like to thank the various members of the public who stopped and offered help until emergency services arrived.

Officers are seeking any CCTV footage that may assist them in enquiries.
