TAVISTOCK Area Support Services has been working with local people on capturing their life stories — making sure that people's real life stories are not lost but recorded for generations to come. There are now 25 volunteers recording their tales and 22 life stories recorded — including D-Day, the 70th anniversary of which was marked on June 6. Topics have ranged from flying Lancasters to stories of local and further afield interest of years gone by. TASS also has 15 on the waiting list and are recruiting new recorders for a training session in September. Anyone with a story or who would like to record stories, contact TASS at the Anchorage Centre on 01822 616958. The stories will be available to local schools and colleges for students to hear and read first hand on what life was like.
