OKEHAMPTON Golf Club ladies' section held their annual meeting on Sunday, November 28. There was a good turnout, with 20 players and almost as many social members.

The friendly competition was a four-ball stableford, the captain's team versus the vice-captain's. This finished an honourable draw.

Outgoing captain Mrs Liz Slee thanked the players for the success of the past year, and wished new captain Mrs Maureen Wilcox, good luck for the coming season.

Mrs Slee also thanked the social members and gentlemen members for the support given to the charity coffee morning, held the day before. This raised the good sum of £275, which will all be given to the Limehayes respite care unit in Okehampton.

On Sunday November 21 the ladies held their Turkey Trot competition. This was won by Jenny Hutchinson with 38 points; second with 37 was Cherry James and third was Penny Deakin with 34 points.

Wednesday 24th was a stableford — the last qualifier to be played until the spring. This was won by Amanda Clifford 36 points, second Lyn Atkinson 35 points and third Cherry James 33.

The three-ball better ball competition, scheduled for December 1 was cancelled due to the course being waterlogged. The following Wednesday it was cancelled due to the course being closed for the South West Greenkeepers to have their annual meeting. The ladies competition was to be held on the Tuesday, but few ladies turned out so the competition was cancelled.
