THE Dartmoor Pony Training Centre has taken on seven more foals following the Dartmoor pony sales in October and December ? and this week issued an appeal for help in naming the youngsters. The foals are all bay or brown colts that were unsold at market. The DPTC will get the new foals handled and then castrated in the spring, when they will go to permanent loan homes. A spokesman for the DPTC said: ?Two of the ponies have names but the other five need names as soon as possible. ?At the moment there are the Tavistock Brothers, two bay colts who came from Tavistock in October, they are from the same herd and look very alike so believed to be brothers! ?There is also one named Scaredy for the time being as he is extremely nervous, he came from Chagford in October and is a brown colt ? finally there are another two brown foals who came from Tavistock in December, one has a white star, the other is plain.? If any one can make a suggestion that is subsequently used the DPTC is offering a free sponsorship pack. These packs are normally £15 and recipients get regular updates on the Centre and the pony sponsored as well as a certificate, photo and welcome letter. Sponsors also receive a birthday and Christmas card. The spokesman said the DPTC was pleased there were not so many unsold ponies as in previous years and at the December sale in Tavistock prices were surprisingly higher than they have been in past years. All name suggestions should be e-mailed to the DPTC at [email protected]">[email protected] or sent to DPTC, Ashburn Cottage, Kingsbridge Lane, Ashburton, Devon, TQ13 7DX. Anyone interested in sponsoring a pony or offering a home to one of the foals in future should ring the DPTC on 01364 654609.
