VOLUNTEERS are needed for a variety of jobs with an organisation which rescues wild ponies from Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor.
Princetown-based South West Equine Protection's work involves not only the rescue and re-homing of those horses and ponies whose plight is desperate, or who have been the victims of road traffic accidents, but also promoting their welfare by offering advice and information.
They take, on average, three or four calls each day from either individuals or organisations and need help with administration. There are various positions available — computer knowledge is required for some of the positions.
Stableyard duties also need covering, including mucking-out and feeding, but no riding, and volunteers need to be 16 years old or more. The charity has a shop at Embankment Road in Plymouth and staff are also needed to sort, display and sell items.
If you can spare a few hours or all day, contact Maureen Rolls on 01822 890668. Further details of the charity's work can be found at http://www.swep.org.uk">www.swep.org.uk
