THE appalling accident on Saturday, February 7 on the A386 near Mary Tavy proves yet again the total disregard that many motorists show on that main road. On leaving my house in Lydford, in a 40mph zone, I take my life in my hands after saying a survival prayer, and the 30mph section through Mary Tavy in the rush houses resembles 'Brands Hatch' on a race day! Can nothing be done? Where on earth are our police? The warning by Karla McKechnie for people to slow down on our Dartmoor roads after ten helpless animals were mown down and killed, will of course, make not the slightest difference. Tony Smith Lydford
