Tavistock 1
Torquay United 2
THE Lambs completed their pre-season build up with this narrow defeat over a Gulls side that included former Tavistock Jets and first-year professional Ben Camara.
With a crowd approaching 300 the Lambs went on the attack from the start and could have been two up inside five minutes.
Lee Doncaster?s third minute angled volley flew just over the bar, and two minutes later he found the back of the net only for it to be disallowed with Paul Adcock offside.
The Lambs continued to create the better chances of the half with Scott Corderoy having to fly across his goal to prevent Parnell?s header hitting the target. Paul Smith put an effort just wide on the half-hour and a minute later his corner was headed onto a post by Darren Babb. When the ball came back Adcock headed just over.
Babb caused problems for the Gulls with another challenge in the area and this time new signing Dave Hallett saw the keeper keep his effort out with a reflex save.
The Gulls had a great chance to put themselves in front as the first half came to a close with Camara racing away from the Lambs defence only to be denied a goal with Andy Meeds saving at his feet.
The second half got off to a lively start with the Gulls going into the lead on 47 minutes as Camara cut in from the right to send in a
vicious volley that Meeds could only parry. It fell invitingly for Kain Bond to slide into an unguarded goal.
The Lambs responded immediately with a flowing move with Smith putting in a through-ball that Hallett managed to hook across goal for Parnell to crash home a left-footed volley.
The Gulls came flying back and restored their lead just prior to the hour. Camara beat two defenders in the area before firing in a low cross that gave Bond an easy chance to claim his second.
The Gulls then had most of the play with Killoughery going close again and Bond had a great chance for his hat-trick eight minutes from time.

Tavistock P & D 5
Mary Tavy 2
UNDER the new management team of Carl Gatcombe and Alex Ridgeway the P&D side came away with a comfortable victory at Langsford Park.
The Lambs went close on two occasions before Mary Tavy took a surprise lead after just eight minutes when a defensive slip up let in Paul Da Rocha to smash the ball past Craig Howells.
But the home side were on level terms three minutes later when a defensive mistake allowed Dave Brimacombe to stride forward and slot the ball underneath the keeper.
Mary Tavy from the Duchy League responded immediately with a move down the wing and a cross for Da Rocha to slot home at the far post.
The Lambs went ahead again on 55 minutes with substitute Jason Clancy picking up the ball on the halfway line and going through to stab home at the second attempt.
Mark Piper had a great chance to bring the visitors back on level terms for the third time but stabbed wide from close range after Dudley had set him up eight yards out.
The Lambs responded with Richard Searle putting the home side in the driving seat to give them a two-goal cushion.
Howells then denied Piper and former Lambs player Simon Pocknell with fingertip saves before the Lambs sealed it with the goal of the game as Steve Trebilcock?s cross was met by Sean Cann to head powerfully home.
