The event, first run in 1982 and sponsored by Websouthwest.co.uk which saw a hybrid team from Devonport High and Plymouth High, win the Devon final the previous week, and the Cornwall heat by a team, known as the Tanzanites — chosen from three different schools — won the Cornish event.
The first six from each county were invited back to fight out the final over a winding course. Eleven of the 12 teams went into the second round without faults.
A superb display of fast accurate jumping by Callington Community College beat The Tanzanites into second place with Ivybridge third and Tavistock College fourth.
Twelve teams completed in the final of the Websouthwest inter county Devon and Cornwall school show-jumping competition.
A nail biting finish ended with the Callington Community College horse riding gold team winning by a margin of only two seconds.
Congratulations to Lauren Nicholson, Natalie Moore, Naomi Tibbs and Georgia O'Brien.
Paul Dew, from the college, said: 'As a specialist Sports College we encourage all students to participate in sport. We are very proud of these girls.
'Long may they enjoy the benefits of riding. They are a credit to the college.'
