CALLINGTON Town Council is inviting residents to see the provisional ideas of the neighbourhood plan.
On July 21 and 22 there will be two sessions where people can visit the town’s pannier market and see the draft Callington and Kelly Bray Neighbourhood Plan and give their views.
Callington town clerk Helen Dowdall said: ‘Following consultations and questionnaires, consultants came in to the council to pull together all the ideas received, and now we want to put the draft plan out there to find out what people think. We want people to let us know if we have lost the point or hit the nail on the head with the plans.
‘We want to allow growth in the area and help develop businesses and schools, so we have pulled together all of the information gathered and we now want people to see the plan.’
Changes in government legislation have given communities more power in terms of what happens in their area. A neighbourhood plan gives communities more capacity in planning local development, with a say on where new homes, shops and offices should be built, a say on what those new buildings should look like, grant planning permission for new buildings the community wants to see, protect open spaces and identifying projects the community wold like to bring forward.
This neighbourhood plan is being overseen by the town council but is driven by local residents.
