DJM U14s Plymouth Tamerton Foliot 2 Callington Colts 6 CALLINGTON are looking more and more like a team who could pose a positive threat this season. Top scorer Robert Cleveland opened the scoring in Colts? favour, placing the ball over the keeper?s head from a cross from Ryan James. James doubled Colts? lead from close range as he followed in from Charlie Gale?s excellent effort which was well saved by the Foliot keeper. Todd Harnahan gave Tamerton a lifeline but Gage Taylor put Colts 3-1 ahead as he finished off neatly at the back post. Jon Bye posed problems for the home defence and was lucky not to put the game beyond reach as he narrowly missed his shot after some lovely individual skill. But he did get the ball in the net shortly after as the keeper?s hurried clearance cannoned off him to leave him an easy tap in. The referee, however, indicated the ball had struck the player?s hand. Foliot hit back with their second direct from a free kick for a half-time score of 2-3. Cleveland slid the ball in at the near post for 2-4 and completed his hat-trick after being bundled over from the penalty spot. A quick throw in led to James claiming the last goal of the game cleverly lobbing the keeper to make the final result 6-2 in Callington?s favour. l It was a generally good day for Callington teams as the DJM League gets into full swing. The U12 boys? team overcame Saltash Youth 5-2 in the Vanguard League with McCallion hitting a hat-trick. Payne and Searle added the other goals.
