KEEN photographers are being encouraged to show off their work and enter the popular Winning Landscapes photography competition organised by Dartmoor National Park Authority.

This follows the overwhelming success of last year's Capturing Dartmoor photography competition, when judges had to choose from more than 400 entries.

The Winning Landscapes competition will run until noon on September 7.

Jackie Ridley, promotion and development officer for Dartmoor National Park Authority, said: 'We were so impressed with the quality and variety of images that we received last year that we are eagerly anticipating entries for this year.

'We know that Dartmoor means different things to different people and we want to encourage visitors and residents alike to send us their photos showing us what makes Dartmoor a winning landscape to them.'

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, entrants to the competition could win some great prizes — the first prize is a landscape photography workshop with Devon-based landscape photographer Lee Pengelly. Second prize is a large canvas wrap of the entrants photo provided by South West Colour Laboratories. Third prize is a Tamrac Aero Speed Photo Back Pack from Mifsuds Photographic Shop.

There is also a special under 18s category offering a prize of a large canvas wrap.

As the competition progresses, the images will appear in a gallery on the DNPA website. The winning photographs and a selection of other entries from last year's cometition can be seen at the High Moorland Visitor Centre in Princetown until September 12.

Anyone who has been inspired to grab their camera and wants to find out more about the competition, then visit the DNPA website at http://www.dartmoor.gov.uk">www.dartmoor.gov.uk for terms and conditions and details of how to enter.
