A 'CALL My Antiques Bluff' evening is to take place in West Devon next month, providing an opportunity for a great night out, which will also raise money for charity.
The event is being held at The Harris Arms at Portgate near Lewdown on March 12 and proceeds will be donated to the Children's Hospice South West's Precious Lives Appeal.
Christopher Hampton, managing director of Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood, will bring a team of experts to tease those with some knowledge of antiques and find out just how much they know.
The event will have an extra dimension, as participants will also be able to taste some of the best food and wine around. Landlords and owners of the Harris Arms, Andy and Rowena Whiteman are both qualified, award-winning wine makers and enjoy finding and introducing new wines.
Their wines are, as much as possible, made by small producers and are either sourced direct from the vineyard or from local wine merchants.
Head chef at the Harris Arms, Ross Tregidgo, a long time supporter of the charity, has reached the 'cook off' stage of the National Competition, 'The Great British Pub Food Awards 2010'. He will be cooking something very special for this event so for those who appreciate great food, fine antiques and great wines, this will be a rare chance to combine all three interests.
The Precious Lives Appeal has now raised more than £2.75 million to build Little Harbour, the hospice that will serve families with life limited children from Plymouth and Cornwall.
Judy Pride, West Devon CHSW Community Fundraiser, said: 'This is a wonderful way to help us build Little Harbour and to have a great night out at the same time and I am really grateful to all those giving their time and work to make this happen.'
Tickets, which include a set two course meal and entrance to the Call My Antique Bluff Quiz, are just £15.
