CHELTENHAM and Gloucester?s Okehampton branch staff have helped raise £10,000 by walking ten miles for charity recently. On Sunday, September 10, more than 250 people took part all over the West and Wales region to support Breast Cancer Care. Staff in Okehampton raised just over £500 towards the grand total by setting out for their sponsored ten-mile walk from Okehampton Station. Chris Hurley, of the Okehampton branch said: ?The charity walk was a huge success and everyone enjoyed a great day out. I am so happy that we were able to raise £507.85 for such a worthy cause.? Cheltenham and Gloucester is supporting Breast Cancer Care as part of the charity of the year partnership between the charity and Lloyds TSB, which will give the opportunity to raise £1-million. The charity is planning to launch the Lloyds TSB ?Near to You, Here for You? initiative, a programme of local outreach work which will allow the charity to offer direct support to 40,000 more people affected by breast cancer. l Golfers competed for the Cheltenham and Gloucester Cup at Okehampton Golf Club on Sunday, September 9. In connection with the charity golf day, C & G also organised a prize draw, won by John Birch of South Tawton. Mr Birch visited the branch recently to collect his prize, £50 of vouchers towards golf equipment provided by the club professional.
