AN innovative new course dealing with the addictive world of internet auctions, aimed at helping people buy and sell on-line, is being launched at Okehampton College this month.

The three-week course called ?An introduction to making the most of Internet Auctions? runs on Thursday nights between 7pm and 9pm commencing on September 23.

So if eBay is an enigma and how to bid leaves you bewildered, help could be at hand with this course.

The tutor Peter Preston, an IT tutor, has recently moved to Folly Gate.

Peter said: ?When we moved to a smaller house we had a lot of things to sell so I really got into selling on internet auction sites.

?We sold all manner of things ? books, musical instruments, cameras, even a Welsh dresser. Since moving to this area I?ve bought bathroom furniture and even a chainsaw!?

Peter added: ?I now use internet auctions as a part time business and sell something practically every day. Recent examples include two ashtrays I bought from a local auction in Okehampton for £6 ? I sold them for over £50.

?A piece of medical apparatus I bought for £38 sold for over £100.?

To demonstrate the whole process, Peter has obtained a few items for around £1 which will be auctioned online as a demonstration during the course.

Students will learn how to buy locally and sell globally and vice versa, how to create eye-catching descriptions, the art of minimising costs to maximise profits and are encouraged to sell or buy items for themselves.
