A BUS carrying around 30 passengers was involved in a road traffic collision on the A390 at Gulworthy last Thursday (July 31). Two fire crews and the heavy rescue appliance from Middlemoor were called to the incident on the road to Gunnislake, just before Newbridge, at around 1.54pm. The bus was said to have hit a verge and tipped over. Eighteen passengers were able to get out of the bus, but 12 were still on board when the emergency services arrived. Fire crews used a tirfor winch, an appliance winch, small tools and a hose reel jet to stabilise the vehicle and make it safe. The police and ambulance personnel also attended, and a spokesperson for the fire service said no-one was injured but some may have suffered from shock. The road was closed for a majority of the afternoon with traffic being diverted.
