POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a number of burglaries in the Bere Ferrers area overnight last Thursday/Friday, July 18/19.

The first burglary took place at a manor house in Bere Barton, between 11.30pm on Thursday, July 18 and 6am on Friday, July 19.

The premises is a large 14th century, grade two listed manor house with numerous outbuildings and grounds, which is situated on the edge of Bere Ferrers.

The main house and outbuilding are undergoing extensive renovations and builders are present daily during working hours. The same team has been working at the location for the last 18 months.

Entry was gained by forcing a ground floor kitchen window at the front of the premises and thieves conducted a tidy search of the kitchen, lounge and adjoining small office areas.

The offenders are believed to have left the premises via a side door in the office, which leads back out into the gardens.

Cash was stolen along with 30 PS3 and PC games, valued collectively at £700.

Police received two further reports of burglaries to homes in Bere Ferrers, which occurred the same night.

They are believed to have happened in Shutecombe Terrace between 10.30pm on Thursday, July 18 and 8.30am on Friday, July 19.

In both cases, police said entry appears to have been gained via an insecurity and a search was carried out.

'Oakely' sunglasses and a pair of men's 'Caterpillar' boots were stolen from one property and a quantity of cash was stolen form the other.
