TV WILDLIFE expert Nick Baker paid a visit to Okehampton Primary School last week to get children excited about science and nature.
The presenter brought his show ‘Bugged’ to the school, sharing his expertise from a lifetime of bug hunting.
He treated pupils to projected close-ups of each of his wriggling specimens. The prize of the collection was Gil, a cheeky rhinoceros beetle puppeteered by William Todd-Jones, who has worked on the Muppets and the Harry Potter film series.
In trying to convince pupils of the beetle’s superiority over human, Gil and Nick help children achieve a ‘bug’s-eye-view’ of the entomological world.
After the show the pair answered questions from children. Nick and Gil are touring ten Devon schools this autumn with the show.
