A RAFFLE is being held at an opticians in Tavistock this festive period to highlight the importance of regular eye examinations for children.
Customers who book an appointment for a child's eye test at Specsavers Tavistock throughout December will be entered into the draw to win a JD Bug scooter, the must-have toy for kids this Christmas.
Sarah Routly, store director at Specsavers Tavistock, said: 'We wanted to do something fun to encourage parents to book appointments for their children as eye examinations are a vital part of a health check. 'We recommend that children have their first eye examination at around four years old, as the earlier many common childhood vision problems are discovered the better the chance of correcting them.'
The winner will be drawn on New Year's Eve at the store.
Eye examinations for children are funded by the NHS up to the age of 16, or 18 if they are in full-time education. In conjunction with the NHS, glasses at Specsavers are free to children.
