A TREATS and Treasures auction is being held by a Bere Alston church to help raise money to convert a cottage adjacent to the church for community use.

Bere Alston United Church, which is a joint Methodist and United Reformed Church, purchased the cottage several years ago and its uses have included being a meeting place for groups and also a drop-in centre on a couple of mornings a week.

However, the building is in need of work to comply with various regulations and to make it more user-friendly. The auction, which will be held in Bere Alston Parish Hall on Saturday, April 24, will include over 80 items, such as trips, hairdressing, free entrance to various attractions, cinema tickets, and vouchers for shops and eating establishments.

A tour of Buckingham Palace with free travel by National Express is the main prize in a draw also being organised to raise funds for the project, which will be drawn at the auction.

Viewing for the auction will start at 9.30am with the first bid being accepted at 10am. Postal bids will also be accepted up to Friday, April 23 at Hope Cottage, 41 Fore Street, Bere Alston, PL20 7AH.
