TAVISTOCK'S Brownies and Guides donned uniforms from the 1930s to the 1970s in celebration of their centenary year.
The Brownies and Guides dressed in original uniforms — to represent the changes during the 100 years since Girlguiding began — when they launched their Christmas post scheme for Tavistock.
The girls enjoyed the experience of wearing the uniforms but felt their modern activity wear would be more practical for delivering the post.
New yellow stamps have also been printed to celebrate the 100 years since Lord Baden Powell and his sister started the girls' youth movement.
The Guides' Christmas post service, which has been running in the town for more than 20 years, has started and stamps and posting boxes are now out in local shops.
The closing date for postal service is Friday, December 18, so that the cards can be delivered on December 19 and 20. The Guides are only able to deliver cards to houses in Tavistock and Whitchurch.
