BROADCASTER and former West Devon resident Angela Rippon is to open a new centre for adults with learning disabilities at Lamerton this month.
Camplehaye House, a new purpose-built property, will offer care and support for adults with learning, complex care needs or physical disabilities.
This will be the third care home to be run and opened by local company Avens Care Homes, whose head office is based in Yelverton.
Avens Care Homes currently run two residential care homes for the elderly, but the company is looking forward to offering a much needed new facility for adults of all ages, who may require care and support for a variety of complex care reasons.
Camplehaye House will be run by new manager, Chris Bishop.
Chris will ensure that each resident has a personal care and development support plan, especially catered to their individual needs.
'Our care services are structured to enable both social and community led activities, making full use of public services available, including recreational, educational and even work based opportunities.
'This fantastic new building will have all the latest equipment as well as 24 hour professional support and care,' said Chris.
'Angela Rippon has been extremely supportive of the work and care undertaken by Avens Care Homes and we are delighted she has agreed to officially open Camplehaye House for us.'
The new house, which stands in its own extensive grounds and landscaped gardens, is registered for five residents and will be able to provide both permanent and respite care.
The official opening will take place on Friday, March 26.
