DIVERS are currently undertaking essential work on an ancient crossing over the River Tavy in West Devon.
The project involves Denham Bridge, in Denham Woods between Buckland Monachorum and Bere Alston.
A Devon County Council spokesman said: 'This is planned work by Devon County Council's bridge maintenance team.
'A £40,000 scour protection scheme is currently underway, constructing an underwater concrete wall for the long term protection of the bridge.
'The work has been programmed to be carried out now in order to avoid disruption to the fishing season.'
