BRIDESTOWE moved to the top of the Reader Cricket League thanks to a 52-run victory over near-neighbours Lewdown on Saturday.
Bridestowe got off to a strong start with Mark Fogerty (54) and Phil Hatton (43) lasting 18 overs for the first wicket.
Lewdown were to pay for missed chances as the Millaton men finished their innings still notching runs — 174 for 6.
Lewdown's innings quickly saw a catch from Bridestowe's Phil Down put Hayden out for a duck.
B Worth hit a good 58 for Lewdown but with Bridestowe's youngsters fielding well the entertaining game ended in the 34th over with Lewdown on 122 for 10.
l Bridestowe gained revenge for an earlier defeat and brought Lewannick's winning ways to an abrupt end.
Bridestowe batted first and set a reasonable total of 105 for 6 in a mixed innings, the Griffiths brothers adding valuable runs at the end.
When Lewannick batted, tight bowling and fielding from Bridestowe frustrated their usual style of play.
With six catches to their credit, Bridestowe ran out winners in the 18th over.
