IN the Okehampton and district table tennis league's Bill Fogerty trophy Bridestowe were at home to Anchorage C. Bridestowe were far too strong and won all their games in straight sets with a 9-0 win to go through to the semi-final to face Tavistock A.
The only other match in the Bill Fogerty was the consolation game between Moreton-hampstead and Academy A.
Tom Pearce won the first game against Richard Underhill to put the Academy 1-0 ahead; Moretonhampstead won the next two, David Shilston beat Tom Pengelly and Ken Underhill beat Wayne Pearce to put Moretonhampstead 2-1 ahead. Tom Pearce did well to beat David Shilston in the next (15-21, 24-22, 16-21) to level at 2-2; Wayne beat Richard to put the Academy ahead but again Moretonhampstead levelled at 3-3 and 4-4. Richard lost the last against Tom Pengelly for a 5-4 win for the Academy to go forward to the semi-final to face either Dartmoor Fringe or Anchorage A.
There were two division one matches played, Anchorage A against Tavistock A; in an exciting hard fought match Tavistock raced into a 8-0 lead.
Anchorage took the last singles when Bob Vella beat Roger Bowkett (11-8, 9-11, 11-7, 8-11, 14-12), before Tavistock took the doubles for a 9-1 win.
Anchorage A were away to Tavistock B in their next match. Tavistock won the first three singles, Colin Brooker lost the next against Bob Vella to make the score 3-1 to Tavistock B who stepped up a gear, taking the next five singles and the doubles for a 9-1 win.
