A GROUP of Brentor villagers staged a dramatised re-enactment of the Good Friday story on Friday, March 25 as part of the One Friday movement.

A spokesperson for the group said: ‘This is a modern development of the old fashioned medieval mystery play and is rather like a passion play, enacted by the local community for any and all comers.

‘Eight people were directly involved, playing all the parts with assistance on costumes from Alison Wright of the Tavonians, taking a break from preparing for their production of My Boy Jack.

‘An audience of about 50 were present for this new event and at the end, the Easter Cross was raised on Brent Tor, where it will – weather permitting – stay until Ascension Day.

‘We’d like to thank Brentor PCC and Alison Wright of the Tavonians. We would also like to ask if anyone is interested in joining us – we would love to do it again next year!’

Following the Ascent, there was a short service of prayer and meditation at St Michael de Rupe, Brent Tor.
