TWELVE hardy swimmers from local swimming clubs took part in the annual Breakwater swim in Plymouth Sound, including participants from Tavistock.
The weather was kind to swimmers and spectators unfortunately the wind died down during the race and the swell decreased so the swimmers had a harder task to achieve a good time.
All the entrants completed the two-mile race from the Breakwater to the Hoe in good time.
Tavistock swimmers in the final positions were boys: 1, Gareth Williams, 3, Jason Butler; girls 2, Kathryn Stacey.
Each of the swimmers had their own safety escort during the event, provided by volunteers from the Port of Plymouth Canoeing Association. The safety boat for the event was provided by The Horizon Trust and Mayflower Sailing Club.
The event was organised by Maggie Pike and the Committee of the City of Plymouth Amateur Swimming Association.
